Community Involvement
Giving back is at the heart of our company. Our volunteer and charitable efforts support a range of community and charitable concerns, from educational institutions and artistic endeavors to healthcare and child development. Some of our primary community involvements include:
Adopt-a-School Program
The Kessler Group is proud to enter our seventh year as a major sponsor of Cathedral Elementary School, an inner-city Boston parochial school. Cathedral School serves students in grades K–8. Our support of Cathedral School is meaningful and goes beyond simply writing a check. As part of our financial commitment to Cathedral School, this year we purchased a number of school supplies for their Math and English classes. Each year, the company sponsors trips for students, such as Boston's Duck Tours, Plimoth Plantation, Big Apple Circus, New England Aquarium, Museum of Science, and the Butterfly Museum. Our employees volunteered their time to chaperone these trips. We also hold other events, including "Shadow Day," where students learn first-hand how a professional organization operates, and a celebratory lunch honoring graduating eighth-graders. As a leading contributor to the Cathedral School, we're proud to announce that in late 2004 the school was accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
The United Way
Since 2001, The Kessler Group has supported The United Way. Our inaugural employee and company kick-off campaign contributions set an unprecedented record. In each subsequent year, our contribution to the organization has grown. We continue to raise significant dollars to help fund a number of United Way programs.
Matching Gift Program
We match a portion of monetary gifts made by our employees to nonprofit organizations.
Other Contributions
We think globally and act locally. Though we have deep roots in Boston, our charitable giving touches organizations across the country and around the world. Our employees have contributed significantly to the New York City September 11 Foundation and the AIDS/LifeCycle marathon ride charity. Like countless others, we were shocked by the devastation caused by the Asian Tsunami in December 2004. In response, Howard Kessler generously matched all employee contributions, which were donated to US Fund for UNICEF Tsunami Water & Sanitation Fund, President Bush and President Clinton's umbrella fundraising organization.
